Shanghai Ocean University is a 95 years old institute of higher education that boasts of long and glorious traditions. Since 2000, the university has been jointly administered by the Ministry of Agriculture and the Municipal Government of Shanghai. With Fisheries and Marine Science and Technology as its key specialties, the university has established itself as a multi-discipline university, complete in educating system, diverse in specialites and harmonious in the development of subjects of agriculture, science, engineering, economics, humanities and management, etc.

At present, the university has set up 8 schools and 33 undergraduate majors, with registered undergraduates, postgraduates and in-service faculty members amounting to 12300-odd, 790-odd and 1040 respectively. In October, 2008, shortly after the celebration of the 95th anniversary of its founding, Shanghai Ocean University moved to a new campus located in Shanghai Lingang New City. Position Description

1.Courses include:

     (1) English Reading and Speaking for non-English majors;

    (2) Oral English, Listening Comprehension and A Brief Survey of English-speaking Countries for English majors

2.Weekly work-load: a minimum of 14 class periods (45 minutes per period); the semester usually lasts 18 weeks.

3.Other duties: assisting the development of extracurricular activities by participating in students-oriented activities like English Corner.

1. It will be preferred if the employee is a master’s degree or Ph. D holder in English language or relevant majors and has at least one-year teaching experience. BA degree holders with at least three-year teaching experience will also be acceptable.

2. Age: from 25 to 60

3. Any certificates of teaching qualifications will be regarded as added assets.

4. The applicant’s nationality should be one among British, American, Australian, and Canadian.

1.Salary: The monthly salary will be 5000 RMB if the minimal workload of 14 class periods per week can be fulfilled. Besides, 80 RMB will be paid for each extra class period. The salary will be paid for 10 months each academic year and an allowance of 5000 RMB

will be paid for one month’s travel during the academic year.
